Just to make sure I’m giving a fair shake to Microsoft and not just harping on Sony, we have some interesting information on the 360. According to GameSpot, Game Informer recently conducted a survey of 5000 XBox 360 owners and found that just over 54% have had a console fail on them. 41% reported having a console fail on them twice. 36% have reported having to purchase a second console which is 3 times the replacement rate for PS3 and over 4 times the rate for Wii owners. Almost 70% of those surveyed said they knew of at least one other person who had an XBox 360 fail on them.
That is a lot of failure to worry about. I know three people beside myself who own 360s, and two of them, including KK, who have suffered at least one red ring, one of whom bought a replacement console. My 360 is still rather new and not used very often; so, I haven’t had any problems with it, my Wii gets more work than my 360 and works fine, and my PS3 is my workhorse right now, and I think it might be starting to have problems, but I hope not. It has had some issues loading PS2 games that are supposed to be compatible, but will sometimes give me a black screen instead, and I had one or two times recently where Cross Edge froze during a disc read. It generally works fine, though. All in all, I’ve had good luck with consoles, though. Even my old NES still works somewhat.
What about you out there in the internet, how have your consoles fared?
