Josh Moore got a several day banishment from Xbox Live for breaking the Code of Conduct. What was his infraction? He listed his hometown as Fort Gay. Problem is he is from Fort Gay. Fort Gay is a town in West Virginia. Originally chartered in 1875 as Cassville. Its name was changed to Fort Gay in 1932. The story goes that the town council was fed up with local idiots smearing mud on the initial C from city signs, changing it to “assville”. You just can’t make this shit up.
Moore was turned in to Xbox Live by a fellow gamer and spent the next few days trying to convince Live Customer service department that Fort Gay is a real town. Stephen Toulouse, Chief Enforcement Officer for Xbox Live, acknowledges the mistake and reinstated Moore’s Live Access.
Microsoft Corp. and Xbox Live are apologizing to a West Virginia town and a 26-year-old gamer accused of violating the online gaming service’s code of conduct by declaring he’s from Fort Gay.
