Viz has had a busy couple of days announcing current and future titles. First, the novel Death Note: L, change the WorLd has shipped and is available from their Shonen Jump Fiction line. The novel follows the genius detective who is known only as L, the only mind quick enough to keep up with the greatest criminals in the world. Death Note: L, change the WorLd opens with L taking on the “Kira” case, and goes through the 23 days following the close of the case. His missions include fighting off a group of bio-terrorists who threaten the world with a virus ten times worse than Ebola, and saving two young children. For fans of the live action movie, the book covers many events that weren’t shown in the film. Death Note: L, change the WorLd features the original Japanese hardcover formatting featuring cover art by Takeshi Obata.
The second major Viz announcement is a new manga title for their Shojo Beat line called Beast Master. Kyousuke Motomi’s new title follows Leo Aoi and Yukio Kubozuka. Leo always seems to have a wild look in his eyes and a certain magnetism with animals…and animal lover Yukio. Yukio finds out that Leo isn’t as bad as he seems…unless he sees blood. The sight drives him into a berserk rage, endangering those around him, friend and foe alike. The first volume of Beast Master is due out November 3rd, and as an added bonus, also contains the short story called FLY.
