VIZ has announced that on October 13th, they will be releasing Boys Over Flowers: Jewelry Box, an epilogue to the extremely popular Boys Over Flowers. The series, also known as Hana Yori Dango, is one of the best selling shojo series in Japanese history. Jewelry Box is written by the original author Yoko Kamio, and takes place one year after volume 36, the final volume of the original series. It will contain two short stories as well as some bonus material.
Viz has released all 36 volumes of Boys Over Flowers in North America, with the final one coming out this past June. The series follows Tsukushi Makino, an girl from a poor family who attends an elite school, and focuses on her social and romantic interactions. The series has sold over 35 million copies, and, in 1996, won the Shogakukan Comic Award for the shojo category. Yoko Kamio’s longest running series has also been adapted for anime as well as live action.
