VIZ has opened their VIZAnime.com streaming website yesterday with 11 different free shows. The site still lists itself still in beta, so be aware that there may be some hiccups here and there, but it seems to work pretty well so far. A few of the series offered (InuYasha, Death Note) have all of their episodes uploaded while other series are being uploaded on a weekly basis. InuYasha: The Final Act and Buso Renkin are being uploaded on Mondays, Hikaru no Go on Wednesdays, Naruto Shippuden on Thursdays and Prince of Tennis on Fridays. VIZ has been releasing InuYasha: The Final Act alongside the Japanese TV release, and it seems to be doing well for them. A few other series have received similar treatment such as Shangri La being simulcast on Crunchyroll and Japanese television with pretty decent results. The simultaneous release schedule is designed to cut down on fansubbing, which both helps and hurts the American anime industry.
