Netflix Wii 5x7 300x214 The Wii Gets in on the Netflix Action This Spring!

It’s official. Nintendo and Netflix have announced that starting this spring you will be able to stream Netflix through your Wii console. It uses the same type of Interface as the PS3. You reserve a Wii instant-streaming disc that will bring up the Netflix menu with your instant queue, and recommended titles. The Wii instant-streaming disc is free for all subscribers and will be shipped as they become available. You can reserve yours by going to this link.

While I have been satisfied with the streaming service on the XBOX 360, It will be nice to NOT have to pay an extra $50 a year for the privilege. So I hope the quality of the stream is good. As soon as my disc comes in I will report on the results.

Funny, I thought Nintendo said that they just wanted a game console. I remember someone (possibly Iwata or Miyamoto) saying that they had no intention of trying to be a home entertainment system. I wonder what changed…
