XSEED Games announced today that it has partnered with Nintendo to bring The Last Story to North America. The Wii-exclusive title was developed by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi’s studio, Mistwalker, and will hit stores in Summer 2012. The game was released in Japan early last year, and will arrive in Europe at the end of this month.
The Last Story follows Zael and his fellow mercenaries on their journey to Lazulis Island. This region is the only prosperous place in an Empire that is rotting away, and Zael’s group hopes to find a future there. He secures a job with the island’s ruler and dreams of becoming a knight, but the group’s first mission changes everything.
There doesn’t seem to be a website for the North American release yet, but for now, you can find further information about this game at the Nintendo UK page. XSEED has also published games such as the Ys series, Half-Minute Hero, and Valhalla Knights. Check out their official site to learn more.
The Last Story is one of three Wii RPGs that the Operation Rainfall campaign has been petitioning Nintendo to release in North America. The first title, Xenoblade Chronicles, saw success last December when Nintendo revealed its release date. With XSEED Games’ announcement that they will publish The Last Story, the only game left on Operation Rainfall’s list is Pandora’s Tower.
