I like alot of people are waiting on The Beatles: Rock Band (TB:RB) to be released on September 9th. Below will be what an overview of what to expect from the game and will be followed up after release with a review of the hands on game play.
Release Information:
Those that preorder from a Pre-Order Club Site Retailer will be given codes to use on the Club site to gain access to Art, News, and Behind the Scenes footage prior to game release. As an extra bonus those that pre-order from Gamestop will also get codes for 3 FREE game songs by The Beatles, PLUS a code to unlock an in-game photo book album.
So if you plan to preorder you’ll get the best deal from Gamestop.
GamePlay
The loading screen will consist of conversations between The Beatles. The Story Mode follows the the rise of The Beatles from The Cavern Club in Liver Pool, England and culminating at their final performance on the Roof of Apple Corps Headquarters.
McCartney, who personally authenticated and authorized all the dialogue, pictures, etc…confirms that there are many unlockables and other goodies to find.
Since the game follows The Beatles there will be NO option to create your own avatar.
The Trainer Mode has been expanded to teach you Beatle Beats, and a Vocal practice mode to help you master the Three Part Harmony as you will be able to hook up 3 microphones for the vocals (USB hub sold separately). The game will be compatible with Lips and Singstar microphones.
The 3 part vocal will allow you to switch which parts you are singing but you will gain more points if you can nail your own parts causeing “Double Fab” and Triple Fab” bonuses. This also allows for the challenge of Singing and Playing an Instrument by multiple players. (I will try. I will Fail but I will Try:) )
The Drums Overdrive Feature has changed. instead of being activated by a free fill overlay a green stripe will appear on the Right most track, ending in a cymbal crash. Hit the crash to start overdrive.
The instruments themselves are replicas of the original Beatles instruments. Lennon’s Rickenbacker 325 and Harrison’s Gretsch Duo Jet are the guitars you can buy as separate purchases. The Drums and Bass are only sold in the combo packs. Your old RB controllers are still compatible so I see no need to get these unless you want a more “authentic” look while you play.
45 Songs will be included on the game disc. (Album Titles are Bolded)

All You Need Is Love will be available as DLC ($1.99) from Release until Dec 9 the proceeds will be donated to Doctors Without Borders. Full Album Abbey Road will become available later. And This is the one thing I am not happy about. DLC will not work in Rock Band or Rock Band 2. Partly an Apple Corp decision, partly an Harmonix decision due to “technical and artistic ” reasons.
And 2 final fun facts:
1: At the end of each song, Beatles producer Sir George Martin tells you how well they performed on each track instead of the plain %complete screen we are accustomed to.
2: In the Dreamscape for “I Am The Walrus,” the band wil be wearing the costumes from the cover of the Magical Mystery Tour album. John will actually be the walrus for the duration of the song.
I can’t wait to get my hands on this. Be sure to check back for the Post-Release review. And enjoy a preview of the game below.
