With E3 coming up next week, Square Enix has released trailers for three of the games they will undoubtedly be talking about and showing off. Of course, there’s still the matter of their teaser from the Playstation 4 conference, as well, but it looks like we’ll have to wait until the conference proper to find out just what that news is. In the meantime, you can check out all three trailers below.
First up is Thief, a resurrection of the stealth action game series which hasn’t seen a release since 2004. Eidos Montreal is in charge of the reboot in which you play as Garrett, the master thief, and the game is set in a steampunk-style area simply called “The City”. The new game will be available on PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4 when it comes out next year.
Next up is Deus Ex: The Fall, which takes place in the same universe as previous games, but features a new protagonist. In this iOS and Android game, you play as Ben Saxon, an augmented mercenary, and though it is made for iOS and Android devices, it retains many of the action-RPG elements. The story for The Fall ties in with the novel Icarus Effect by James Swallow, and you’ll be able to play the game yourself sometime this summer.
Finally, Square Enix also showed off a new trailer for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, the third release in the Fabula Nova Crystallis series. This trailer, featuring a mix of cutscenes and gameplay, ends with the appearance of one of Lightning’s former teammates squaring off with her in an unexpected battle. Fans of the series will be able to pick this title up in Europe and North America when it releases in February 2014.
