Production I.G. has announced that Eden of the East: Paradise Lost, the second feature film in the Eden of the East series, has been delayed until March due to difficulties in production. The film was originally slated to open on January 9th. On the bright side, according to AnimeNewsNetwork, the first movie The King of Eden, which was reported to also be suffering delays, will now make its intended release date this Saturday in Japan. The runtime of each film has been expanded from 60 minutes to around 90 minutes, which is at least some tradeoff for the delay.
FUNimation licensed the Eden of the East television series earlier this year. However, according to a spokesperson that I contacted, they have not yet licensed the movies, but are quite interested in acquiring those properties as well.
