According to VG247, a high-level Sony executive has confirmed the home of the PlayStation will be making an announcement regarding a Premium PSN service at E3. While full details won’t be revealed until the Electronic Entertainment Expo, the unnamed Sony exec said the service will cost “less than £50 (about US$74)” and have features such as a music streaming service that can play during games. Subscribers will also get to choose one free downloadable game per month from a list of three to four titles.
One thing that won’t be exclusive to pay subscribers is cross-game chat. “I can tell you now, 100 percent, that that’s not the case,” the Sony representative told VG247. “There’s nothing in the premium package which will gimp regular PSN users.”
Sony is also expected to make other PlayStation 3 related announcements at E3 such as a release date for the Move and an overhaul of the XMB system. One thing that will probably not be making an appearance is the rumored PSP2.
