Sony just got an injuction against the importation and sale of the PSJailbreak. Sony has until the end of the month to prove to a Federal judge that the Chips are illegal. Apparently mod chips have been legal in Australia since a 2005 Supreme Court ruling so Sony may have an uphill battle. Their best bet will be showing that the dongle contains programs copyrighted by Sony. If unsuccessful the PSJailbreak ships on September 1st.
Of course even if they get the injunction that won’t stop Chinese companies from selling the clones of the device. Customs can’t check every package.
