Kotaku is reporting that at the open of the JASDAQ exchange, Nippon Ichi Software’s stock price dropped 7000 yen ($78) from over 36000 yen to 29200 before the JASDAQ froze the stock price to keep it from crashing even further. This news comes on the heels of Nippon Ichi announcing last week that their profit margin through the first three quarters dropped 97.5% compared to the first nine months of the previous fiscal year. They remained profitable, but only barely.
During the current fiscal year, Nippon Ichi Software has released Disgaea 2 Dark Hero Days, Cross Edge Dash, A Witch’s Tale, Let’s Hitchhike, and Phantom Brave: We Meet AgainĀ in Japan. NIS America has released Puchi Puchi Virus, Cross Edge, Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman, and the aforementioned Disgaea 2 Dark Hero Days and Phantom Brave We Meet Again. The titles did not sell as well as hoped, cutting heavily into their profits. Both Last Rebellion and a sequel to Prinny: Can I Really Be The Hero? are scheduled for release in Japan before the end of the current fiscal year, perhaps one of these titles can help Nippon Ichi rebound.
