Multichannel news is reporting that an industry executive says Netflix is looking to expand its digital empire. Netflix would not comment on the speculation, but the exec told Multichannel that their next two conquests seem to be the Wii and iPhone. There have been rumors of an on-demand video service coming to the Wii for a while now, and in Japan, they already had some video service (though it doesn’t seem very impressive); so, I assumed they’re in the market for such services here in the states as well.
For the iPhone, more than likely, it will be a Wi-Fi only service; speaking from personal experience AT&T’s 3G service network isn’t stable enough to support streaming video. I have bad enough luck listening to Live365 or Pandora in my area. Anyone annoyed that the PS3 and Netflix aren’t playing nice yet?
