Over at the TBS site for K-On! (in Japanese), it was announced that the series has received a green light for season 2 again being produced by Kyoto Animation. Season 1 consisted of 13 episodes running from April to June of this year and spanned roughly the first two volumes of the manga by Kakifly. The official announcement was made at Yokohama Arena during a live event for the show. There is also an extra OVA episode set for release with the final volume of season 1 on January 20, 2010.
The slice-of-life series follows Hirasawa Yui and her friends in the music club at their high school. Yui joined the club even though she didn’t know how to play an instrument, and, even so, their band set the goal to play at the Budokan someday. K-on! is a cute series centering around their daily lives at school and in the band. No set date has been announced for the start of season 2.
