iFixit was started in 2003 by Kyle Wiens and Luke Soules in a dorm room at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. Upset that the vast majority of consumer electronics have no repair manuals Luke and Kyle started a website to give free instructions, with pics, on how to fix their Macbooks. The site was such a success that they made a side business by offering to sell the parts and tools required to “Do It Yourself”. Starting this week iFixit has now branched out to the video game market. Repair guides, replacement parts, and tools are now available to repair your consoles and handhelds going back to the original NES.
It’s fate that brought me to this site. My Xbox 360 RROD over the weekend and I’m out of Warranty by 2 years! iFixit has a section for this. Every gamer needs to book mark this site.
