From the “I wish I had thought of that” department comes this little Kotaku news gem. Apparently, people have been selling a certain promotional code on Ebay. Just which code are they selling? The free code that gives your avatar a cute little chocobo chick in honor of the upcoming Final Fantasy XIII release. According to the Kotaku article, these codes were going for upwards of $50 on Ebay, but the prices are starting to come back down again.
To get the promotional code, you were required to sign up via the XBox website a couple months ago. A stipulation was placed on the giveaway, though. It required a certain, undisclosed number of people to tweet about the contest before anyone could receive the prize. Now that the deadline has passed, and there are a finite number of these codes floating around, people who missed the boat are trying to buy their way in. Isn’t capitalism silly sometimes?

Made sure I got mine and Annie’s as soon as you clued me into it. It’s cute but I still don’t understand paying real money for Avatar items. Games and add-ons you get to interact with. Avatar Items are just money wasters.
