After a hiatus of over a decade, mangaka Tatsuya Egawa has announced he will be reviving his manga Golden Boy. The sequel, entitled Golden Boy 2 ~ Sasurai no O-Benkyō Yarō: Geinō-kai Ōabare-hen (Wandering Student: Big Struggle in the World of Show Business), starts in this month’s Business Jump magazine.
The original Golden Boy featured a law-school dropout named Kintaro Oe as he traveled around Japan on his bike performing various odd jobs. In this new storyline, Kintaro will continue his life of travel and study in the world of entertainment.
Perhaps if this incarnation of Golden Boy gets made into an anime as well, Doug Smith will come back and reprise his lead role in the English version. It just wouldn’t be the same without him.
