Finger FCC asking for Input: Should they have more control over Electronic Media (for Childrens Sake Of Course)

Go Fuck Yourself FCC

Via GamePolitics

The evolving electronic media landscape presents parents with both tremendous
opportunities and critical challenges. On the one hand, electronic media technologies present many
benefits for children, such as offering an almost unlimited potential for educational avenues and providing

the technological literacy needed to compete in a global economy. On the other hand, the technological
developments that produce these benefits also present risks for children. With this Notice of Inquiry
(“NOI”), we seek to develop a record that will help us answer the question of how to empower parents to
help their children take advantage of these opportunities, while at the same time protecting children from
the risks inherent in use of these platforms.

The Short Version:

“We want to put more controls on adults by “protecting the Children”. Please tells us it’s okay.”

There is a very simple way to keep children away from “inappropriate” things. It’s called being a parent.

Phones:
Don’t want your kid accessing pornography on his phone. Then don’t give him a internet enabled phone. You have to ask your Carrier for internet access. It’s not automatic. You can even get phones specifically for kids that only accept calls from pre-approved numbers.

Computers:
Besides the many available content filtering software companies out there, MS Windows has parental controls built in. The Latest (Win 7) even lets you specify times the computer can be on. It also can read the ESRB rating of the game and block games you deemed inappropriate for YOUR child.

TV:
Already has a v-Chip thanks to the FCC. Fucking Use it. The broadcasters have ratings flags embedded in their signal. You can block all the content you want.

Video Game Consoles:

They Also come with Parental controls that will stop a game from loading if it’s ESRB rating is not on the approved list. Once again. Be a fucking parent and use the technology that is already available to you.

I am tired of Games, Movies, and TV being softened, censored, edited to “protect” little bobby because his mom and dad are to lazy to be fucking parents.
