3-D movies are starting to make a bigger splash thanks to Avatar, and Sony unveiled their 3-D Bravia TV and PlayStation3 prototype earlier this year in Germany. It seems that ESPN is going to be the next in line to start offering 3D entertainment. According to their release, they will be showing at least 85 different games and programs in 3-D over the next year, and they will be offering the 2011 BCS National Championship game in 3-D as well. The first game offered in 3D will be a soccer match between Mexico and South Africa on June 11th. ESPN 3D will also cover football, basketball, soccer and X Games.
They haven’t disclosed whether the new network will require a 3D-enabled television or whether it will be available on standard televisions with polarized glasses. The likely assumption is that it will require a special television. I have contacted ESPN for clarification on this matter, but haven’t received comment yet.

HD + 3D = Outside
The next big “improvment” will be LARPing with Robots instead of being passive in front of tv’s.
