Last year, veteran game designer Tim Schafer and his team over at Double Fine Productions made waves with the largest crowd-funded video game ever. Broken Age (originally Double Fine Adventure) raised $3 million, and sparked a new wave of crowd-funded titles from major developers include Obsidian Entertainment and Peter Molyneux’s new studio, 22Cans.
And now, Double Fine has returned to Kickstarter, this time pitching an entirely new game that will be led by Brad Muir, a longtime Double Fine employee who worked on Psychonauts, and was the lead designer on Trenched/Iron Brigade. His new game, Massive Chalice, is a fantasy-themed tactical game borrowing elements from games such as XCOM and Fire Emblem. The team is looking to raise $725,000, they have already raised over $400,000 at the time of writing, so it is very likely that they will meet their funding goal in the very near future.
While I could try to sum up the project with more bits of boring text, just check out Double Fine’s hilarious pitch video above. It’ll do a better job at explaining things, and it’s way funnier.
