Cryptic Studios has decided to take their game a little further away from canon with their latest contest, but at least they are offering a handsome reward. They have announced a contest (registration required) where prospective players can name three different Tier-5 (highest tier) starship classes for the upcoming MMORPG title. Entries are due by January 8th, which is also the day that they will be judged. Winners will receive a free Digital Deluxe edition of Star Trek Online and unique in-game title “Starship Designer” as well as a poster of the starship they named. Star Trek Online is still accepting beta applications right now at the website, and is scheduled for a PC launch on February 2, 2010.
