She is the gun-wearing, lollipop-eating, god-killing beauty who can weaponize her hair; she is Bayonetta. As graceful as she is beautiful, she proved that angel slaying can be done in style. Considered the female counter part of Dante, from Devil May Cry, she has become a video game icon in her own right. And as with all icons, she is finally getting all the perks that go along with being an icon. It began with her sequel, which sadly is only for the Wii U, and she now is getting her own anime movie.
Announced at the 2013 Tokyo Game Show, Bayonetta: Bloody Fate, is being produced by the anime studio Gonzo, which is responsible for such titles as Vandread, Samurai 7, and Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo. If you’re not excited yet (and we’d be surprised if you weren’t), by the looks of the trailer featured below, all of our favorite characters will be in it. There’s Enzo, the Danny Devito look-a-like; Luca, the maybe he is, maybe he’s not love interest; Rodin, the badass bar owner and weapons supplier; and Jean, the best friend with a vengeance. Oh, and what about little Cereza? While not present in the trailer, we can only hope that she is in the movie. The story revolved around her, so it wouldn’t quite be Bayonetta without her.
So, what else can we expect from this movie? Hopefully, there will be all the angel killing and hair transforming craziness we’ve come to expect, probably just with more blood and sensuality. Set to be released in Japanese theaters in November, we can only hope that it will reach American shores before too long.
