Wii Balance Board Just as Good as £11,000 Force Platform

Doctors at the University of Melbourne, Australia report in a new study that the Wii balance board gave comparable results to the £11,000 standard force platform used to treat balance in stroke victims and so could be used as a substitute for clinics who could not afford the £11,000 price tag.

Need Help Learning A Second Language? Use Foreign Subtitles

LanguageScienceDaily posted an interesting article today about how subtitles affect language learning. The gist of the article is that people who are shown a program in their second language with subtitles in their native language seem to learn the words spoken on the screen, but do not get an ear for the phonemes in their second language as quickly as those who watch a show with subtitles in that second language.
