The Associated Press is reporting that a spinoff from Nickelodeon’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender” is in the works. Nickelodeon says the the new animated TV series will star a female Avatar named Korra.
The working title for the series right now is “The Legend of Korra.” The series will build upon the “mythology” of the original series. That makes me think the series will be set before the events of “The Last Airbender”. Nickelodeon executive Brown Johnson describes her as hotheaded, independent and “ready to take on the world.” That and the screen shot suggests to me that she will be an Earthbender.
On the plus side of this announcement is The “Legend of Korra” is from the creator-producers of the original “Avatar: The Last Airbender.” So hopefully it means we will getting a quality product out of this.
