atluslogo Atlus Being Absorbed Into Index HoldingsAtlus parent company Index Holdings has decided to bring the creators of the Shin Megami Tensei series back under their own management. According to Joystiq, Index Holdings subsidary Index and Atlus would both be dissolved back into the parent company around October 1st, but games would still be published under the Atlus brand. Current titles would still be worked on as planned, but it’s not entirely clear how future games might be affected.

Index Holdings also owns the Japanese animation studio Madhouse known for a wide variety of shows such as Death Note, Paprika, and Gunslinger Girl. We have contacted Atlus for further clarification about the merger and its effects but are still awaiting a response. We will update as soon as we have more information about the situation.
