Anime director Satoshi Kon passed away yesterday at 6:20 AM, at the age of 46 from pancreatic cancer. Satoshi Kon was a Japanese writer, animator, and director of anime films. Kon started his career as a manga artist and editor in Young Magazine. His screenwriting debut was “Magnetic Rose”, a section of the anthology film Memories. Kon made his directorial debut film, Perfect Blue, in 1997. He was also a founder and part of the 15-member steering committee of the Japan Animation Creators Association (JAniCA) labor group.
He made some really great anime. He will be missed.
