End of an Era: Geocities Goes Under Destruction

Geocities was a haven for anyone wanting to build their own website in the 1990’s and early 2000’s; it offered anyone with a computer the chance to code some html and make a site about whatever they want. It’s a sad day in internet history: No more retina-crippling Star Trek fansites or family picture sites that spammed marquee and blink tags.As of today, Yahoo is shutting it down.

NeoGAFfer Wario64 posted a scan of a Best Buy flier that looks like there will be a Buy 2 Get 1 Free game sale at Best Buy on Sunday, October 25th. Toys R Us and Amazon both had their turn with a sale already this month.

Comic Spotlight: Ménage à 3

mat20091017Hi all! I’ve been behind the scenes here at the blog but I have been asked to create some content for the site. The spotlight posts are open to all type of comics, be they web, print, or manga format. There are of course loads of indexes for webcomics out there, and tons of hosted comic spaces like Keenspot or DrunkDuck, but which ones are the good ones? Obviously, the choices I make for the Comic Spotlight are based on personal preference and whether or not I would recommend them to a friend or general audience. Also, since I am female, they may be slanted more towards female audiences, but I will indicate that in my review.

Windows 7 Launches Today (Updated With Launch Notes)

If you’re like me, you could use an alternative to Windows Vista. (Other than Linux, Greg.) Today is the official launch of Windows 7, and if you hurry, you still might be able to scrape together a launch party.

A friend of mine has a copy of the Windows 7 release candidate, and I’ve gotten a chance to see it.

Feeling Down? You May Need A Darker Bedroom.

Researchers at Ohio State University have recently been studying light exposure during sleep and its correlation to depression symptions. Graduate students at OSU studied one set of mice who recieved light exposure 24 hours a day and another set that had a chance to escape the constant light.
